The past year has been different in many, many ways. And the way we kept ourselves in shape has evolved, too! With the sports center and gyms closed, we had to make do. As simple as it is, movement is always good for the body and mind. So let’s get to it… in style! 

Here are the new trends in sportswear! Colourful, stylish, made from ultra-comfy fabrics: a dream for Sporty Spices and fashionistas altogether.

 

INSPIRATIONAL YOGA

Yoga is a discipline based on a group of physical, mental and spiritual practices that originated in India thousands of years ago. Pushing your physical limits while controlling your breathing makes you realize how strong you really are: it’s one of the most beautiful things you can learn from this sport.

 

PERFECT OUTFIT: You want to make sure your clothes are not going to bother you - think comfy! Go for stretch fabrics that will stay dry even if you sweat. Synthetic fabrics, like elastane, are known for their exceptional elasticity and fast-drying properties.

Unfortunately, gyms are closed for a few months, so some people have moved the gym to their home. Cardio equipment, weights, online classes. It is quite possible to maintain good habits at home!

Swimming is a full-body workout that allows you to hit all your major muscle groups in a soft, but efficient way. As if that weren’t enough, the buoyancy of water (hence no joint impact) makes swimming perfect for people with injuries. Jump in!

A GOOD WALK

Have you ever heard of active contemplation? Enchanting decor, birds whistling, falling snow... Walking can be practiced everywhere, in town or in the countryside, whether you have only ten minutes or a big hour to spend outside. Go for it!

 

IDEAL KIT: Of course you’ll need a good pair of boots! Warm, comfortable and light. As for pants, keep the huge snow pants of your childhood in the past where they belong, and opt for thin and lined pants that will be warm enough for your active walk. Good thick gloves and a few layers of technical clothing can’t hurt, either!
