CONFINED? GET MOVING ANYWAY!

The COVID-19 pandemic is changing people's lives all over the globe. Faced with these upheavals, we all wonder how to restructure our days. One thing is certain: during this stressful forced leave from our day to day routine, it is essential to take care of one's physical and mental health. Whether you have been a loyal gym member for the past 15 years or you decide to get started right away, we encourage you to move. Let’s go!

YOGA - FINDING BALANCE

Moving does not necessarily mean sweating profusely. If you want to improve your flexibility, your posture, your balance while developing your muscular strength and freeing your mind, yoga is perfect for you!

What you’ll need:

• An adequate yoga mat. Look for a good thickness (between 4 and 6mm) and a good quality of adhesion. You can order it online if you don’t have one – and try to shop locally!

• Soft, stretchy and ergonomic clothing. Since you will be doing a lot of stretching, it is essential that your clothes follow your movements. Also look for soft fabrics, with few seams, since thick seams, fasteners, zips and such can be very uncomfortable in certain positions.

• Good hydration. Even if you do not sweat a lot during your practice, good hydration will facilitate the recovery stage. To avoid spills, choose a closed water bottle!

JOGGING & ACTIVE WALKING - VITAMIN D

It’s still allowed to go outside – as long as we keep our distance with everybody. So let’s enjoy a good bowl of fresh air and some vitamin D every day! Especially since the weather is getting so wonderful and warm. Jogging (or active walking, depending on the level of intensity you want) allows you to combine your time outdoors with your daily dose of exercise. #win

What you’ll need:

• A sports top with long sleeves. It's getting nice, but it’s certainly not the time to catch a cold! Opt for a long-sleeved top that wicks sweat well to keep you warm and dry.

• Breathable training shorts or pants.

• SUITABLE sneakers. Don't make the mistake of running with your Converses or with old knocked-down shoes! Choose sneakers with a sole designed for running for a good shock absorption and ankle support.

• For women, your usual bra is not suitable for sports sessions. Opt for a sports bra that will offer you maximum support and comfort.

Bonus:

• Sports socks with additional support and wicking moisture. Ideal for avoiding nasty sores at the start of the season!

• A multimedia armband to have your music on hands, without any hassle.

HIIT – GO BEYOND

What is HIIT? This acronym stands for High-Intensity Interval Training. This way of training consists of alternating very short high intensity exercises with moments of recovery or softer exercises. Why choose this method? Mainly to burn more calories in less time.

 What you’ll need:

• A top that breathes as much as possible. Prepare to sweat like a devil in church!

• Super light shorts.

• Shoes with good comfort and support. You’ll chain squats and burpies – the least you can have is comfy shoes!

• You could also invest in a jumping rope or dumb-bells!

COURSE, RALLY AND COMPETITION - FAMILY ACTIVITIES

Moving don’t need to be planned in advance or be complicated in any way. Here are our ideas of how to spend the energy overflow with your family:

•Dance competition. Each family member offers their version of a little choreography on hits of the moment. Grab a pen and a notebook to assign notes, and above all, have a good laugh! It’s healthy!

• Cleaning the house with your fave music in your ears. Spring cleaning with your family, while everybody is in a good mood and having fun... YES! Let’s hope this activity will stick, even after all of this… ;)

•Treasure hunt. Hidden objects, puzzles to solve, tests to perform ... Make your brain and body work by organizing a treasure hunt in the house or in the backyard!

• Masking tape course. Pinterest is full of ideas like this. Go check it out if you haven't already!

What you will need:

• Comfortable and simple clothes that will allow you to have a great time with the children.
