HOW TO DRESS FOR A CHIC EVENING

We regularly share outfit ideas for work or to unwind, but what about the times you want to shine on a chic evening?

Whether you’re looking for the perfect outfit for an evening at the restaurant, to see a show or to attend a gala, these suggestions will make you feel your best!

Before starting with our best tips, we would like to share a pretty important observation: A great elegant outfit is linked to the confidence of the wearer. So no matter what you choose, in the end, what really matters is that you’re satisfied and proud!

HIGH HEEL POLICY

Let’s begin with THE question that many women keep asking: Is it mandatory to wear heels on a chic evening? There is no official rule when it comes to heels. Since they lengthen the legs and are associated with elegance, we really like to wear them on special occasions. However, some women prefer to avoid them, often because they experience physical pain or because they’re already tall. That’s totally fine and, in this case, we suggest pointed shoes rather than round ones, since they create a lengthening illusion. If you want to wear loafers, why not go for velvet, sparkles or decorative stones?

PS: If you had to choose only one pair of shoes, we would recommend nude stilettos. They go with everything and elongate the legs!

WHAT ABOUT THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS?

We always hear about the little black dress that will have our back on all occasions... but is it really appropriate for a chic occasion? Certainly! To find one that really works wonders for you, make sure to choose the right cut for your body shape. That makes all the difference!

LITTLE REMINDER: MOST FLATTERING CUTS FOR DIFFERENT BODY SHAPES

A SHAPE (THE UPPER BODY IS NARROWER THAN THE LOWER HALF)

- A fitted top will highlight your small waist.

- A-line dresses are perfect to dissimulate wider hips.

V SHAPE (SHOULDERS ARE LARGER THAN HIPS)

- Avoid shoulder pads or any other detail that may weigh down your shoulders.

- As for the bottom of your dress, you can pull off anything.

X SHAPE (SHOULDERS AND HIPS HAVE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME WIDTH AND THE WAIST IS DEFINED.)

- Say yes to wrap dresses and other designs with a fitted waist.

- If you have large breasts, beware of thin straps and poorly adjusted bustier tops.

H SHAPE (HIPS AND SHOULDERS ARE THE SAME WIDTH AND THE WAIST ISN’T REALLY DEFINED.)

- A straight dress with pleated details at the waist will help to define it!

O SHAPE (HIPS AND SHOULDERS ARE ROUNDER AND THE WAIST IS ALMOST EVEN WITH THE HIPS.)

- Go for wrap dresses and pretty much anything tied at the waist.

HOW TO ACCESSORIZE

As we just mentioned, when it comes to accessories, it’s all a matter of finding the right balance. To highlight a simple outfit, go for more extravagant accessories. On the contrary, if your outfit is colourful and original, choose a discreet handbag and subtle jewellery!

AND IF YOU DON’T FEEL LIKE WEARING A DRESS?

Do chic evenings absolutely mean elegant dresses? Not at all! For a few seasons now, jumpsuits are steeling the show at the most distinguished parties. Blouses and chic pants, like palazzos, are another great option! Finally, a skirt and a fancy top are also perfect for that kind of event and can easily be worn separately. PS: We really fall for pleated skirts!
