When it comes to choosing the right clothes, knowing your body shape is very helpful. It’s the best way to determine what body part you want to highlight in order to balance your silhouette!

You might have heard of other ways to describe women body shapes, like fruit names or terms like hourglass or pyramid, but we prefer to use letters, as they are more neutral and can’t really have a negative connotation.

Let’s now take a look at the different body shapes and determine the clothes that will suit you best!

X SHAPE

If your body shape looks like an X, you probably don’t struggle that much to find clothes that suit you well. This body type means that you have a thin waist and that your shoulders and hips have pretty much the same width.

Even though your body figure is easier to dress, it doesn’t mean you can’t look even better with the right clothes. You should definitely look for belts to highlight your waist, bustier tops, suits and wrap dresses. PS: Don’t be afraid to go for bright colours!

A SHAPE

The A shape refers to an upper body that’s narrower than the lower half. This means you have slim arms, shoulders and waist, but rounder hips, butt and legs.

Thus, you should go for clothes that highlight and emphasize volume on your upper body like patterned tops, padded shoulder jackets and ruffle sleeves. For bottoms, plain straight pants and pencil skirts are great options!

V SHAPE

A V shape, also called the athletic shape, means that your shoulders are larger than your hips and you have thin legs. Therefore, you should emphasize your hips.

A line clothes are ideal to equilibrate your silhouette. Long V and U necks are also great options. As for bottoms, go for wide-leg pants, low waists and ruffle skirts to add a bit of volume to your hips and butt. PS: Trendy patterned pants are perfect for you!

O SHAPE

The O shape means that your hips and your shoulders are rounder and that your waist is almost even with your hips and bustline.

What you want to do is define your waist to look more like an X shape. To do so, go for wrap dresses and pretty much anything tied at the waist. Vertical stripes and light prints are also great choices to define your shape!

H SHAPE

If you’re an H, you’re thin and slender. Your hips and your shoulders are the same width and your waist isn’t really defined.

To balance your silhouette, you want to create the illusion of curves. To do so, go for balloon skirts, low-rise cigarette pants and round accessories. PS: If you have a thin frame size, you’re a thin H or an I. However, the suggestions for you are the same as a regular H.
