WARNING: The clothes shown in this article come from our partners and are mostly photographed on regular models. But rest assured that these suggestions are perfectly adapted to women with a tummy.

Every week, we get dozens of requests from users of all sizes and ages asking us how to hide a round belly. We know it can sometimes be hard to dress, and that’s why we developed simple ways to look and feel great. Yes, a griddle can do miracles for a special night, but it’s definitely not something you want to wear on a daily basis!

FAVOUR FLOWY TOPS

Look for draped boho-chic tops and wear them with straight-leg pants. Wider necklines and off-the-shoulder styles also attract attention away from your belly. Are you more sophisticated-chic? Reach for that peplum top!

A WELL-CUT BLAZER OR JACKET MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE

A structured blazer is without a doubt THE essential item to own if you want to hide certain curves, because it draws the eye where you need and conceals problem zones. For casual events, feel free to trade your blazer for a leather or denim jacket!

DON’T BE AFRAID TO FLAUNT YOUR LEGS

Women who are worried about a round tummy often feel more confident about their legs, so don’t be afraid to flaunt them with shorter skirts and dresses. Look for flared cuts that will help to balance your shape by giving the illusion of a waist that is much smaller than the hips or try ruffled tops. It’s a great way to draw the eye to your upper or lower body, but never to your belly!

AVOID ADDING VOLUME AROUND YOUR MIDRIFF

Whenever possible, steer clear from pants that zip or button in the front. They tend to create unwanted bulk that you can easily avoid by picking pants that zip on the side or in the back.

TRY ASYMMETRICAL CUTS AND OPTICAL ILLUSIONS

Special design techniques, like asymmetrical cuts, prints or darker panels strategically placed along the sides, are used on tops and dresses to create flattering curves where you want them.

Pro-tip: Remember to roll up your sleeves up to your elbows (or pick three-quarter sleeves whenever possible). This is an old trick that stylists use that ''reduces'' volume around the waist, creating a generally more balanced silhouette. It’s fast, easy, and free.

SOMETIMES, WIDE-LEG PANTS ARE NEEDED

Wide-leg trousers can help to equilibrate the silhouette by bringing some volume to the lower part of the body, balancing out the centre. Give it a try!
